Cole Christianson is a manager with McKinnis Consulting Services. In his role as manager, Cole is responsible for project delivery, process transformation, and internal methodology development. Mr. Christianson has extensive experience leading implementations of revenue cycle systems for large healthcare organizations. In addition, he has led post-live optimization projects resulting in significant metric improvements. Cole has extensive technical and operational revenue cycle knowledge gained through several years working with Epic and Optum360’s revenue cycle teams.
Mr. Christianson has also worked with large academic medical centers and has successfully implemented revenue cycle systems, process transformations, and post-live optimizations across all revenue cycle areas. Cole is a recognized Epic expert with multiple certifications.
Mr. Christianson led the implementation of professional billing at a large academic system in California. He successfully engaged operational leadership throughout the project, resulting in exceptional post-live performance; revenue and pre-AR stabilization within 1 month of go-live and a 10% increase in total collections. Mr. Christianson’s sample revenue-cycle experience:
- Performed AR analysis and implemented workflow, process, and system improvements for a large Physician group in Illinois struggling to stabilize after their conversion to Epic. Partnered with operational leadership through execution, resulting in 35% reduction in AR days over a 6-month period.
- Helped a client who was continuing to see escalating pre-AR and claim hold levels two months after the Epic go-live. Optimized use of charge and claim holds, redesigned inefficient workflows, and partnered with leadership to implement action plan. Client reduced pre-bill hold days from ten to four days within two months.
- Helped a large west-coast health system to transform and standardize workflows across multiple CBO’s to mirror the industry’s best practice. Also worked with directors to transform their departments’ organizational structures resulting in improved accountability and efficiency.
- Helped a well-respected revenue cycle software and services firm to develop standard, best-practice implementation and testing methodologies. This was critically important for the firm to continue achieving successful outcomes during a period of intense growth.
Prior to joining McKinnis, Mr. Christianson was a team leader and project manager at a leading healthcare technology provider.
