Mr. Kinney is a managing director for McKinnis Consulting Services, and was a founder of the firm in 2009. In his role as managing director, Mr. Kinney is responsible for the overall strategic vision of the firm, human capital management, and client relationship development. In addition, Mr. Kinney has overall responsibility for quality assurance and project delivery for client engagements.

Over the course of his career, Mr. Kinney has worked with multiple academic medical centers, multi-facility health systems, and community hospitals, successfully managing numerous revenue cycle performance improvement projects. Previous engagements have focused on patient access, patient financial services, and improving charge accountability and overall revenue cycle yield through implementation of revenue integrity processes. Mr. Kinney is experienced with multiple next-generation EHR systems, and has leveraged his knowledge of best-practice revenue cycle operations to assist clients in finding technology solutions to best support their revenue cycle’s processes and procedures. In addition, Mr. Kinney has served as an interim revenue cycle leader for a multi-hospital health system based in California.

Prior to founding McKinnis Consulting Services, Mr. Kinney led multiple revenue cycle consulting engagements with leading healthcare consulting firms. Tim received his BBA from the University of Wisconsin and is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the First Illinois Chapter of HFMA and has been invited to speak at numerous HFMA Illinois events. Mr. Kinney currently lives in the Chicago suburbs with his family, and recently served as a board member with the Associate Board of the American Cancer Society, Illinois Division.
