Human Resources Business Partner



We are seeking a talented Human Resources Business Partner with experience working with consulting firms and/or in healthcare to assist in the running of a growing consulting business. The ideal individual will have a passion for taking ownership, excellent communication and office management skills, and someone who can support a fast growing consulting firm in a number of different areas within the HR function. This person will support an employee-oriented, high performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity, standards and goal attainment.  The position will act as a primary point of contact within the organization for recruiting, performance management, employee development and will also be involved with internal ad hoc projects.


Originates and leads Human Resources practices and objectives that include, but are not limited to:

Culture and People

  • Provide direction to leadership with regard to shaping people initiatives and maintaining the company’s unique culture
  • Recommend improvements to HR policies, benefits and training programs
  • Manage, develop and implement HR best practices and policies and ensure that all MCS policies, practices and procedures are administered in a fair and consistent manner and in accordance with all applicable local, state and/or federal laws
  • Investigate, resolve and communicate employee questions, concerns and issues in a timely and effective manner
  • Confer with management team to identify staffing needs, job specifications, job duties, qualifications and skills
  • Review, enhance and manage professional development/training program
  • Monitor and enhance HRIS system currently in place in conjunction with administrative team
  • Lead annual review process including annual salary and bonus review for client facing staff
  • Management & administration of the annual firm-wide and manager training programs as approved by the managing directors


  • Actively source candidates against high volume & high-priority positions by utilizing a variety of recruitment resources, including LinkedIn and future Applicant Tracking System and job boards to track candidate status throughout the interview process
  • Submit applicants to hiring managers for input while seamlessly navigating both the internal client relationship (hiring manager) and interaction with external clients (candidates)
  • Perform reference and background checks on applicants, manage the company’s job posting process and participate in recruiting and networking events
  • Coordinate with leadership to ensure smooth transitions between recruiting and onboarding. Manage and enhance existing new hire orientation program, encompassing basic understanding of service lines offered to clients, technical training, and introduction to McKinnis Consulting Services


  • Responsible for employee annual and monthly enrollment & participation in medical, dental, vision, life & disability insurance plans; 401(k) retirement plan; flexible spending account (FSA); and any other employer-provided benefit plans

  • Actively seek out outside educational opportunities to continually expand knowledge base and build networks
  • Other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Operations.


  • Thorough knowledge of all applicable laws and regulations
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • Strong knowledge of recruitment technology, research tools and systems
  • Detail oriented. Able to manage multiple responsibilities without missing deadlines or getting overwhelmed. Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Strong experience with Google docs and Survey Monkey is a plus
  • Highly motivated self-starter who is comfortable with ambiguity and autonomy


  • BA/BS Degree (or equivalent experience)
  • Seven+ (7+) years HR experience ideally within a consulting or healthcare provider firm
  • PHR certification a plus
