Financial Analyst

 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a talented Financial Analyst with experience working with small businesses to assist in the running of a growing consulting business. The ideal individual will have strong accounting knowledge, including familiarity with GAAP concepts, bookkeeping skills and familiarity with QuickBooks with apassion for taking ownership, articulate communication and office management skills. The Financial Analyst will support an employee-oriented, high performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity, standards and goal attainment.  Additionally, the position will act as a primary point of contact within organization for all accounting related activities and should be a proactive independent worker, critical thinker and very detailed oriented.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Originates and leads Accounting practices and objectives that include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for processing the firm’s bi-weekly payroll
  • Serve as primary contact for weekly timecards and expense reports
  • Assist with creation and oversight of project budgets
  • Create/maintain project budget reports (actuals vs budget, staff utilization, etc.) for operational leaders
  • Maintain the chart of accounts
  • Generate the firm’s annual operating budget and provide variance analysis as requested
  • Manage and process A/P (create payables, process payments, cut checks)
  • Manage and process A/R (create & send client invoices, book receivables, post cash receipts) and follow-up on aged receivables and payables as necessary
  • Manage the process of tagging and monitoring of the firm’s fixed assets
  • Create/maintain depreciation and amortization schedules including associated monthly journal entries
  • Book all general ledger entries, reconcile all ledger accounts, research GL errors and post the necessary JE adjustments
  • Generate monthly financial statements for leadership
  • Partner and serve as the main point of contact with external accounting firm for regular audits
  • Partner and serve as the main point of contact with payroll provider and external accounting firm on management of state, local, and federal payroll taxes
  • Develop, document and maintain internal controls and accounting/finance policies & procedures
  • Assist with periodic audits of staff expense reports and other internal activities as requested by leadership
  • Actively seek out outside educational opportunities to continually expand knowledge base and build networks.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Operations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP concepts and Quickbooks.  Knowledge of SalesForce and FinancialForce preferred
  • Detail oriented. Able to manage multiple responsibilities without missing deadlines or getting overwhelmed. Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Highly motivated self-starter who is comfortable with ambiguity and autonomy

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • BA/BS Degree;  Master’s preferred
  • CPA license preferred
  • Two+ (2+) years of staff accounting experience
